My Mother was an artist and taught elementary art in the
Des Moines public school system to hundreds of students. Her classroom was always such an amazingly lively and beautiful place. Her favorite art was children's art and mine is too. Her students would often come in after school just to hang out there and she would happily put them to work cleaning brushes or whatever while they listened to music on the stereo. My mom always shared her love of the arts, her art supplies and art books with me and my friends and exposed me to all kinds of art from a very young age. She passed away seventeen years ago and I would like to dedicate my sight to her with all my love.
As a kid growing up I wanted to be a cartoonist. My little children's book, 'Tottion and the Enchanted Circus Party' is forty pages which I made for my own three sons when they were younger. I owe the inspiration for that to all the
reading my Dad did with me. From the classics of
Alice and Wonderland and Dr. Doolittle to all the 'Little House on the Prairy' books to to the newspaper comics every day and night. Your never to old to be read to! As well as reading to me he taught me to read as well.
Future Plans: To always grow and evolve as long as I am able. I hope I have the opportunityto to keep learning from other artists and mastering more techniques and improving my skills every day. I am now planning on attending classes, little by little as I am able, at the 'Fine Art's League' on Depot street in the River Arts District of Asheville, North Carolina. e mail:
